More than 30 scientists - specialists in micro-, macro-, mezo- and megaeconomy took part in the Conference. The students, master's degrees students and graduate students of the Economy Department of Institute of Mathematics, Economics and Mechanics, participated in the Conference actively.

On November 24, 2016 the newly appointed Consul General of the PRC Ms. ZHAO Syanzhun visited ONU I. I. Mechnikov and met with the Rector, Prof. I. KOVAL. Professor I. KOVAL gave details of the university’s history to Mrs. Consul General and told about its current statе.

University of Granada (Spain) launches a Call for Applications for undergraduate and PhD students of ONU for the second semester of this academic year.VI International Scientific Conference "Wealth of Nations in the global instability": on April 22th, 2016 the VI International Scientific Conference "Wealth of Nations in the global instability" will be held by the Department.
The British Council project at ONU: teaching Economics in English. In the framework of the Project of the British Council in Ukraine "English for Universities" during the 2015-2016 academic year the following courses are taught in English for students of the specialty "International Economic Relations": "International Economic Relations" and "Management of International Portfolio Investments". All interested are invited to attend the lectures.
In April 2015 the Fifth International Scientific Conference "The Wealth of Nations In The Conditions of Global Instability" took place in the main conference hall of Odessa I.I. Mechnikov National University.
"Current relations between Ukraine and EU, neighbors or partners?" In April 2015 a contest of research works of students of Odessa region was organized by the Department with the support of the Jean Monnet European program.
Within the framework of partnership with the International Higher Education Support Program "Academic Fellowship Program" of the Open Society Institute (Hungary, USA) during 6-9 October 2014 Department of World Economy and International Economic Relations hosted a scholar from the United States of America Professor Jeffrey Miller from Gallaudet University, Washington, DC and the University of Delaware. Professor Miller had consultations with faculty members and post-graduate students regarding their research, made presentations on current issues of the world economy for students majoring in "International Economic Relations", participated in the Departmental research seminar.
On April 25-26, 2014 the Fourth International Scientific Conference "Development of National Economies In The Conditions of Global Instability" at Odessa I.I. Mechnikov National University was held. Not only professors and students attended the conference, but also the representatives of foreign universities.

Alona Zharova, PhD student of Department of Management and mathematical modeling of market processes of IMEM of Odessa I.I. Mechnikov University, won the First place and a money prize in National Research Analytics Championship of Ukraine “Economic sciences and management” for one of the best research works. Championship Organizers are the International Academy of Sciences and Higher Education (UK), All-Ukrainian Academic Union (Ukraine), Heidegger Centre of Scientific Initiative (Germany), Institute of Economic Analysis of Marshall (USA), etc.
From February 17 to March 3 associate professor of the Department of World Economy and International Economic Relations Nasadiuk Iryna visited the Department of Economics at the University of Sussex, Brighton, UK. During the trip, on February 27, round table "Modern Regional Integration of Ukraine: European and Eurasian Choice" took place, where the results of teacher’s scientific studies were presented. The round table was attended by leading experts in the field of international trade policy at the University of Sussex. During the trip courses for the Bachelor and Master program in International Economic Relations were enhanced.
Professional programmers competition held March 2, 2013 at the Odessa National University named after II Mechnikov. The company Opera Software donated prizes and sponsored the event. Odessa National Polytechnic University, Computer Systems Odessa company was also involved in organizing the event. The main prize of the competition, a powerful professional notebook student went 4-year degree in Applied Mathematics IMEM ONU Yuri Monastyrshin. Two second prize - a Tablet PC with a 4-core processors, went to his classmates Polyakovv Fedor and Anna Katz. Three third prize - a smartphone company HTC, got ONU students Sergei Sklyanichenko, Ilya Shekera and ONPU Cyril Leventsu.
