Vira Nasikivska, PhD student of the International Relations Department, took part in the XXXII Eastern European Summer school for young scholars that was held in Warsaw from 12 to 23 September, 2022. The program of the School consisted of a series of lectures and seminars conducted by prominent professors from well-known universities of Poland. The School was primarily aimed at the young scholars gaining experience in the chosen research fields and getting acquainted with the latest trends and practices in the humanities.
On August 22-24, the conference "Undergraduate Conference: Economics in the XXI Century" took place in Vienna on the basis of the Central European University.
Three students from Odessa National I.I. Mechnikov University specializing in “International economic relations” were representing Ukraine at the conference with their research work:
19th of July 2022 Odesa I. I. Mechnikov National University (Ukraine) and University of Loughborough (the United Kingdom) held the ceremony of signing the Memorandum of Understanding between two universities. This Memorandum is part of the Twinning program, which is launched to develop partnership relations between Ukrainian and British universities in order to support the higher education in Ukraine, still being damaged by the ongoing military aggression.
From June 20 to July 12, 2022, at the Microbiology, Virology and Biotechnology Department of the Odesa I.I. Mechnikov National University the XVII International Summer School for young scientists, postgraduates and masters in molecular biology, biotechnology and biomedicine was held.
28th of June 2022 the Rector, professor Vyacheslav TRUBA has signed the Memorandum of Understanding with Saint John's University (the USA, New York). The Signing Ceremony took place under presidency of UK Board representative, Professor Dame Janet Beer, with participation of the Ambassador of United Kingdom to Ukraine Her Excellency Melinda Simmons, the Ambassador of Ukraine to the UK His Excellency Vadym Prystaiko, the Adviser to the President of Ukraine on the Presidential Fund for support the education, science and sport Ms Olha Budnyk.
Odesa I. I. Mechnikov National University has been granted an association membership in the European University Foundation, which unites circa 100 higher education institutions from all over Europe in a common commitment to bring about a modern, strong and competitive European Higher Education Area and to advocate a substantial increase of the quantity and the quality of student mobility.

As a result, the Joint Research Conference Proceedings were published on June 7th, 2020.
This conference was an important first step for further scientific cooperation between Odessa I.I. Mechnikov National University and Chinese higher education institutions.

Department of language and General humanitarian training of foreigners of Philological faculty of Odessa National I.I. Mechnikov University offers you to publish articles in the anniversary collective monograph “Modern problems of languages teaching methods and training of foreign students at universities”, dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Department and 30th anniversary of the Preparatory faculty for foreigners.
We will publish the original articles in the following areas:

- Tradition and innovation in the methodology of language teaching.

Starting March 19, at the Faculty of International relations of Odessa National I.I. Mechnikov University there will be series of lectures conducted by experts from the European Union’s Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM) (http://eubam.org/) about EU-Ukraine cooperation in the framework of Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area. The lectures will cover the role and mandate of EUBAM, the role of Customs Services in trade facilitation measures, as well as the importance of EU border control (the deailed agenda of the course is available at the link).

This year at the department of language and general humanitarian training of foreigners a club has been formed for our foreign students and undergraduates, who gladly entered the student association "Scientific and Cultural World of Ukraine".
The first event of the club was readings dedicated to the memory of the outstanding Ukrainian Kobzar. On the eve of the significant dates of March 9 and 10, our foreign students talked about their impressions of Shevchenko's personality and his work, about the information field of Shevchenko's image in his native country. And also read poetry in the Ukrainian language and the language of their country. Among the participants of the event are students of the Faculty of International Relations, Political Science and Sociology ̶ Brenich Anastasia (Moldova), Al-Kadoori Hashim (Iraq), Leshchenko Maxim (Moldova), Yin Sichuan (PRC), Wang Haoyu (PRC); Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology ̶ Shevchenko Anastasia (Russia); Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Information Technologies ̶ Yilmaz Said Nurbaki (Turkey), Zhaksibek Asyl (Kazakhstan); students and undergraduates of the Faculty of Economics and Law ̶ Khudyakova Irina (Moldova), Marin Roman (Moldova).
On February 26, 2021, a meeting was held between the newly appointed Rector of the Odessa Mechnikov National University Professor V.I. TRUBA with the Consul General of Bulgaria in Odessa Mr. S.N. IVANOV together with First Secretary Slavyan SIMEONOV. The solemnity of this event was marked by the fact that this meeting was the first official reception of Prof. V.I. TRUBA as the rector of the ONU.
During the meeting the parties have discussed some relevant issues of mutual interest, the main of which is the development of Bulgarian philology at the ONU. Mr. Consul General of Bulgaria especially emphasized the importance of our university in the Bulgarian Language Studies, which is the main national identity component of the Bulgarians in the region.

Research and practical conference
“UNIVERSITY ONLINE. EDUCATION IN A PANDEMIC CONDITION”

The conference is held online using the platform Zoom.
Distance teaching in quarantine has posed many important challenges, but also provided unique opportunities to improve and enhance the quality of education and, as a result, increase interest in learning.
The purpose of the conference: involvement of the scientific community in a comprehensive understanding of the city and the role of the university in the modern world, a new philosophy of education, study of distance learning in quarantine, examination of current educational models and new educational technologies.
Participants: research and teaching staff of higher education institutions, post doc, grad students, research assistants (RA), students, teachers.
On February 16, 2021, the Faculty of Biology hosted a thematic event "Night at the Museum" dedicated to the International Charles Darwin Day. Director of museum Ph.D. V.O. Lobkov told students of Odessa schools about valuable collections and scientific research carried out in the museum.
On September 10, 2020, as a result of secret voting by the labor collective of Biology Faculty, the candidate of biological sciences, associate professor of the Department of Hydrobiology and General Ecology, Veniamin Veniaminovich Zamorov, born in 1963, was elected to the post of Dean of the Biology Faculty.
XX Gamow International Astronomical Conference-School in Odessa I.I.Mechnikov National University: “Astronomy and beyond: Astrophysics, Cosmology and Gravitation, High Energy Physics, Astroparticle Physics, Radioastronomy and Astrobiology” was on 9-16 August, 2020. Biological session “The Importance of G. Gamow’s Ideas for Biology of the 21st Century” took place in Zoom. The program is available here.
In the framework of the project "Erasmus +. Key Action 1 – Mobility for learners and staf – Higher Education Student and Staff Mobility», direction internationalization of education, associate professors of microbiology, virology and biotechnology Rusakova M.Yu. and Zinchenko O.Yu. received a grant for a business trip to the University of Umeå, Sweden, in October 2020. 1st year graduate student Valeria Zymovets received a grant to study during the autumn semester of the 2020/2021 academic year.
The following international projects are continued at the Faculty of Biology of ONU:
“High Five” Education Internationalization Project, coordinated by Umeå University, Sweden. The main goal of the project is the integration of Ukraine into the European educational space.

In June 2020 Odessa National I.I. Mechnikov University has become the new University to be welcomed into the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program.
From 29 June to 10 July 2020 year Odesa Mechnikov National University, Danylo Zabolotny Institute of Microbiology and Virology, Vinograds’kyj Society of Microbiologists of Ukraine and Odesa Society of Biologists and Biotechnologists hold XV International Biological School-Conference “Modern problems of Biology, Biotechnology and Biomedicine”.
Fourth-year students of the specialty "International economic relations" of Odessa National I.I.Mechnikov University have successfully completed the module on cooperation between Ukraine and the EU, which was taught by the experts of the EU Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM) (http://eubam.org/). Namely, experts from Germany, Sweden and Slovakia gave lectures about the role and mandate of the EUBAM and the role of cross-border cooperation for the regional security and economic development. Within the framework of the module the students also visited the new Palanka border crossing point, which was launched with the support of EUBAM, and is being managed jointly by the border and customs services of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.
15th of November 2019 in Kyiv students of Faculty of International Relations, Politology and Sociology with the faculty adviser Bychkova Nataliia participated in the kick-off meeting of the 2020 CFA Institute Research Challenge, which is the most prestigious student competition in equity research world-wide. This year the CFA Research challenge will host 10th anniversary local competition with 25 Universities represented by 30 teams all over Ukraine.
