From February 17 to March 3 associate professor of the Department of World Economy and International Economic Relations Nasadiuk Iryna visited the Department of Economics at the University of Sussex, Brighton, UK. During the trip, on February 27, round table "Modern Regional Integration of Ukraine: European and Eurasian Choice" took place, where the results of teacher’s scientific studies were presented. The round table was attended by leading experts in the field of international trade policy at the University of Sussex. During the trip courses for the Bachelor and Master program in International Economic Relations were enhanced.
Professional programmers competition held March 2, 2013 at the Odessa National University named after II Mechnikov. The company Opera Software donated prizes and sponsored the event. Odessa National Polytechnic University, Computer Systems Odessa company was also involved in organizing the event. The main prize of the competition, a powerful professional notebook student went 4-year degree in Applied Mathematics IMEM ONU Yuri Monastyrshin. Two second prize - a Tablet PC with a 4-core processors, went to his classmates Polyakovv Fedor and Anna Katz. Three third prize - a smartphone company HTC, got ONU students Sergei Sklyanichenko, Ilya Shekera and ONPU Cyril Leventsu.
On February 4-11 professor Sergey Yakubovskiy – Head of the Department of World Economy and International Economic Relations of the IMEM ONU visited the Open Society Institute (OSI, Budapest, Hungary). During his visit professor Yakubovskiy discussed the possibilities of deepening the cooperation between OSI and IMEM. In particular, approval was received to fully finance the visit of professor Halpern – leading European expert in the field of international finance to the department of World Economy and International Economic Relations. OSI agreed to purchase modern economic literature for the IMEM in the field of international economic relations.
On November 14, 2012 Odessa Research Seminar in International Economic Relations took place at the Department. It was attended by the Department researchers and guest researcher professor Laszlo Halpern from the Central European University, Hungary.
Professor Laslo Halpern - a leading European specialist in the field of macroeconomics and international competition - came to I.I. Mechnikov ONU with a three-day visit in November 2012. Senior students and graduates of the specialty International Economic Relations attended lectures that covered the topics: “The main problems associated with accumulation of state debt in foreign currency” and “Procedure of macroeconomic imbalance – reacting to the crisis in the EU”. In addition, Laslo Halpern held a number of consultations with professors of the department of World Economy and International Economic Relations at ONU.
The Professor’s visit to the Odessa University was scheduled as part of a cooperation agreement between the Institute of Mathematics, Economics and Mechanics and the Institute of Open Society (Budapest, Hungary). Laslo Halpern is a professor of the Central European University and deputy director of the Institute of Economics of the National Academy of Sciences of Hungary. Professor Halpern authored a range of different scientific research papers on the theory of the exchange rate, macroeconomic theory of stabilization, the behavior of companies in the world economy.
