Five Ukrainian universities from Odesa, Lviv, Kropyvnytskyi, Kharkiv and Ivano-Frankivsk won the EU Parliament’s grants to train conference interpreters. It was an extremely busy week, full of meetings, communication, training, and networking. The format of the meetings was interactive and engaging. The representatives of various Directorates-Generals and units of the European Parliament spoke about various aspects of EU multilingualism policy and the growing need for Ukrainian interpreters. In their turn, the representatives of the Ukrainian universities outlined the peculiarities and challenges of interpreter training in Ukraine.
Both organisers and visit’s participants expressed their hope that this visit would be the beginning of close and fruitful cooperation between the European institutions and Ukrainian universities specialising in conference interpreting training.
