Odesa Mechnikov National University at an International Conference in Regensburg: European Corporate Law and New Prospects for Cooperation

On 14–17 October 2026, Professor Andrii Smitiukh, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation at Odesa I. I. Mechnikov National University, participated in the international conference “EU Compatibility and Legal Transplants in Ukrainian Investment and Corporate Law,” where he delivered a presentation entitled “Transplanting the EU Corporate Mobility Acquis to Ukraine: Cross-Border Conversions, National Gateways and the Limits of Unilateral Approximation.” His presentation explored the possibilities for adapting EU rules on cross-border corporate mobility to the Ukrainian legal framework.

The conference, organised by the Institute for Eastern European Law and the Denkraum Ukraine Centre at the University of Regensburg with the support of DAAD, brought together researchers from Ukraine, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Moldova and Cyprus.

An important part of the visit was a series of meetings with Antje Himmelreich (Institute for Eastern European Law), Professor Mirja Lecke (Co-Director of Denkraum Ukraine) and Maria Grotz (Erasmus+ Institutional Coordinator at the University of Regensburg) to explore new opportunities for international cooperation involving Odesa Mechnikov National University.
