The Translation Department of the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology is implementing the grant programme “Master's Degree Program in Conference Interpreting – Odesa National I.I. Mechnikov University. Semester I and Semester II of 2023–2024 and Semester I of 2024–2025 academic year” by DG LINC. Through this collaboration under the European Parliament Grant Programme, Master’s students in Conference Interpreting gain real-world experience, benefiting from the guidance of top-level professionals at the Directorate-General for Logistics and Interpretation for Conferences (DG LINC).

During Semester I, students attended several European Parliament events designed to enhance their knowledge, skills, and understanding of multilingual communication. These sessions included:

• Introducing Interpretation at the European Parliament
• Day of Multilingualism
• Day of Multilingualism for Universities
• Master Class in Interpreter’s Note-Taking
• Special Individual Session: Practice and Demo Session in Consecutive Interpreting

In the Practice and Demo Session, two Master’s students had the opportunity to interpret live in front of experienced European Parliament interpreters. They received instant feedback, encouragement, and valuable tips from seasoned experts.

This hands-on experience complements the strong theoretical and practical curriculum of the Master’s Degree Program “Translation and Interpreting from English and the Second Foreign Language into Ukrainian” at Odesa National I.I. Mechnikov University. By blending academic rigour with professional insights, the programme prepares graduates to meet the highest standards of European conference interpreting.
